Machine Types let you categorize your machines by the kind of coin or payment method
they use. Every machine must be assigned a type, and the type controls how collections
are entered and calculated throughout the system.
Coin Type
The Coin Type tells the system what kind of payment this machine accepts. Your choices are:

Standard quarter-operated machine. Collections are entered as coin weight in grams and converted to dollars. |
| Tokens |
Token-operated machine. Same weight-based entry as Quarters -- set the coin weight to match your token weight. |
| Bills |
Bill validator only. Collections are entered as a bill count, not a weight. No coin weight calculation is used. |
| Quarters & Bills |
Machine accepts both quarters and bills. Collections show two inputs -- gram weight for coins and a count for bills. Both save independently. |
| Tokens & Bills |
Same as Quarters & Bills but uses token weight for the coin calculation. |
Coin Weight
The coin weight (in grams) is used to convert the raw weight you enter during
collections into an estimated coin count and dollar value. Common values:
- 5.65g -- US quarter (default)
- 4.00g -- a common token weight (varies by manufacturer)
Weigh one of your actual coins or tokens on a scale for the most accurate value.
Set this to 0 only for Bills-only machines -- coins and hybrid
types always need a weight greater than zero.
Header Color
The header color is a visual label that appears at the top of each machine card
throughout the collections and report pages. Use it to make machine types easy to
distinguish at a glance -- for example, red for pinball, blue for arcade, green
for redemption.
The text color on the header automatically adjusts to black or white depending on
the background you choose, so readability is always maintained.
Machine Issues
Machine Issues are separate from Machine Types, but they are linked -- each issue
is assigned to a specific type. If a machine type has no issues set up, customers
cannot submit repair tickets for machines of that type, and a warning will appear
on the List of Machines page. Go to Admin → Machine Issues
to add issues for each type.
Deleting a Type
A Machine Type cannot be deleted if it is currently assigned to any machines or
issues. Reassign or remove those first, then delete the type.
Filter
Use the filter dropdown in the top right of the list to show only machine types
of a specific coin type. Useful when you have a long list and want to quickly
find all Bill or Token types.
